I previously had a Krups coffee maker, which was ok until it stopped working for no apparent reason about a year after I bought it. I replaced it with this Russell Hobbs one. In my opinion it's far superior, a really solid build and keeps the coffee piping hot. It even comes with its own re-usable filter so I can do away with the paper ones I had to use with my previous coffee maker.
This is a nice machine which makes good coffee. Even after turning the machine off, the coffee stays warm for longer than some of our previous machines thanks to the wrap-around design. The programmer works well - but see below.
However, there are some minor niggles:
Unplugging the machine resets the clock and programmed time.
As the power button and the Hour change buttons are quite close, it is easy to alter the time accidentally - so every time I program the machine, I have to remember to check that the clock is still correct.
The clock can lose several minutes over the month.
The reservoir level indicator mostly takes an age to rise to the correct position (sometimes as much as 10 minutes), even after descaling (we used filtered water anyway). This is annoying in the morning when time is of the essence. I have measured how much water is needed for the minimum quantity of 3 cups (400 mls) and for 5 cups (650 mls) and now use a measuring jug to save time.
